Join us on May 21st at the Hiawatha Fold for the last Songwriter’s Woodshed of 2026! We are thrilled to have Sam Luna as our special guest host.  A mini-concert, an open mic, & workshop in one. Each month, a guest songwriter/band shares a song, their creative process, and a sing-along to start the open mic. Songwriters sign up, perform on stage, and receive great feedback from guest & attendees.  The guest closes with another original and Q&A.  Where: The Fold 1015 N 3rd St  Marquette, MI. at Village shopping Ctr.

March 21st: Winter Roots Festival: History of Protest Songs Workshop

As the third event of Winter Roots Festival, Brian Wallen and Erin Colwitz will be holding a workshop on Saturday, March 21st, from 11 am-12 pm at The Hiawatha Fold on the history of protest songs. Dr. Erin Colwitz (Professor of Music, NMU) and singer/songwriter Brian Wallen will offer a historical perspective on protest music and its impact, as well as current examples and songwriting tips for participants interested in writing their own protest songs. Donations encouraged!

Join us at the Hiawatha Fold on Thursday, October 16th, from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm for a Live at the Fold concert: Master Artist Series with Neil Woodward, Michigan’s Troubadour! Join us May 15, 2025 from 7-9 pm at the Hiawatha Fold for our last Songwriter’s Woodshed of the year!  Our special guest artist for the last Songwriter’s Woodshed of the season is the wonderful Troy Graham! A singer-songwriter who performs throughout the Great Lakes Region, Troy performs relevant, original songs while musically reflecting on his personal experiences.
