The next event will be held on March 15th, and will feature U.P. Gumbo, a Marquette-based folk group specializing in the music of Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta. The quartet’s setlist includes Folksongs of the deep South, Blues, Zydeco, Cajun, Swamp Pop and related music.
The band was formed in Marquette around seven years ago to perform Louisiana music for Mardi Gras at the local Lagniappe Cajun-Creole Eatery, and they still perform there and elsewhere around the region. All seasoned musicians, U.P. Gumbo includes multi-instrumentalist and singer Warren Hantz, resonator guitarist and singer “Cousin Bill” Hart, stand-up bass player Bob Guidebeck, and percussionist Randy “da Bones Man” Seppala. Sitting-in for da Bones Man at Hiawatha’s March 15th ‘Warm Up Wednesday’ will be veteran drummer Brad Gleason of Escanaba.
