Welcome! First, here are the links to our Virtual Festival. Whether you have a Facebook page or account or want to watch on your computer on Crowdcast, we welcome you to our Virtual Festival.
The Hiawatha Board of Director's had the arduous task of deciding whether to hold and in-person Festival or not this year. It was hard to comprehend that our 2020 Festival was cancelled and even more unbelievable that our 2021 Festival might be cancelled as well.
Following many, many meetings, studying the local, state and national mandates on gatherings, trying to predict what the summer would look like, evaluating the financial risk management reports, surveying our Festival Committee members, Festival attendees and Co-op Members, they decided to make the call, keep everyone safe and pivot to the development of a 2021 Virtual Festival.
It is our hope that you will tune and and create your own #myhiawatha and enjoy the line up of talented musicians. Many of these musicians have been 'on-hold' since being selected for our 2020 Festival, and we hope to showcase many of them when we gather again next year. We hope you can gather with your family and friends and create your own little Hiawatha community for the weekend. Please send us photos! It will make us all feel a little closer to our Hiawatha friends and create a 'virtual' community!
Because of our 2020 fundraising activity and our staff and grant writer efforts, we were fortunate to receive three different grant awards to help us put on a 2021 virtual Festival. The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs with the National Endowment for the Arts, the Small Business Association through the Michigan Economic Development Center and the SBA Michigan Stages Survival Grant all provided an award to us. Because of this funding, we are able to offer this Festival FREE of charge to our attendees. Donation opportunities will be available throughout the Festival.
The 2021 Hiawatha Board of Directors and staff - May 2021, first in-person meeting in 13 months! Missing Josh Thompson and Bobby Glenn Brown
Speaking of donations, please watch carefully for directions on how to make a donation. If you see strange or questionable requests pop up on our Facebook page, please ignore and do not follow the links. Our donation procedures will be spelled out clearly on Crowdcast and Facebook. There will be a team of volunteers watching and eliminating these 'bots' during the weekend.
Enjoy the Festival! We look forward to seeing you on our social media and your photos! Remember to use the #myhiawatha on your social media!
